Being 40 or over doesn’t mean you have to be over sports. The Calgary Sport and Social Club's Masters League is exclusively for people aged 40 or over, who want to stay in the game but compete against people their own age, those who want to get back in the game, and anything in between. There are a variety of co-ed sports to choose from, all with an emphasis on the CSSC's motto 'fun-first, winning-second.'
Masters is a division of the Calgary Sport and Social Club that's built exclusively for people aged 40 and up. We want to make sure Calgarians have a place to play sports for life, and part of that means stepping into an arena with people your own age; because while we believe 40s are the new 30s, your knees may think otherwise.
Masters offers a variety of sports in multiple skill levels year-round, so whether you're trying to get back in the game after taking time off, or are interested in trying something new, there's a place to play for everyone. Our motto is fun-first, winning-second for a reason - no matter what skill level you play at, in our leagues, positive sportsmanship comes first.

PICK ON SOMEONE YOUR OWN AGE
Play your favourite sport or try something new, with adult Calgarians similar in age, skill, and life experience as you. This means no more sprinting up and down the court against a team of 18 year olds!
COMPETITION MEETS FUN
You don’t need to compromise on the heat of the competition in order to play with adults who are of similar age and skill to yourself. Games in our Masters league are, first and foremost, FUN while still maintaining that competitive edge.
REGISTER YOUR WAY
As we age, we get busier, and busier, and busier. If you still want to get out and be active, you don't need a full team to join you. You can register as an individual and meet new people, or register with a small group of friends and we’ll fill out the rest of the roster for you!
ADD SOME ‘SOCIAL’ TO YOUR LIFE
After your games, head out to one of our nearby Sponsor Bars to cash in on exclusive CSSC food and drink deals. Your "me-time" doesn't need to end when the game does.
Divisions are based on the experience and skills of a team - not on their competitive behaviour! No matter what skill level you register for, all players are expected to play with a 'fun-first, winning-second' attitude.
Please note that the below divisions may not be offered for every sport, season or day. If you have any questions about the different skill levels or where to place yourself, just call us!
This division is for teams who are newer to the sport, or teams that consist of a mix of experienced and inexperienced players. Some players may still be learning the rules of the sport, meaning the flow of the game will not always be natural. If both of the main players are experienced and skilled, then the team should move up to a higher level if available.
This division is for teams with mainly experienced players. The flow of the game will be quicker than the Recreational division as there will be fewer stoppages and rule clarifications. Players will generally be more skilled and looking for more of a challenge than the Recreational level. Not all players in this division are highly skilled, but players are experienced and knowledgeable in the sport.
