There are only two seasons in Calgary: Winter and Slo-Pitch.
Be a part of Calgary's largest Slo-Pitch (a.k.a. Softball) League. With 650+ co-ed Slo-Pitch teams per year, the CSSC offers many different skill levels and formats, and more weekly offerings than any other league. We also invest in our very own Field Maintenance Program! Don't miss your chance to get outdoors, hit a few dingers, and meet new people in a fun-first, recreational atmosphere.
After your game, meet up with your teammates and other players to enjoy exclusive food and drink specials at one of the CSSC's many Sponsor Bars around Calgary.
Spring: Choose between an 8-week or 16-week season
Summer: 8-weeks
Fall: 5-weeks
All teams play once a week on the day they select when registering.
Evening Leagues (Spring and Summer): 6pm to 7:45pm
Evening Leagues (Fall): 6pm to 9pm
Afternoon Leagues: 1pm to 4:30pm
All CSSC Slo-Pitch Leagues are self-officiated. Games are 7 innings in length or 90 minutes, whichever comes first!
Games are played with 10 players on the field, including a minimum of 3 female players.
Are you 40+? Our Masters format is built for people 40 years of age or older! Games are played with 10 players on the field, including a minimum of 3 female players.
Grab your co-pals and enhance your camaraderie through sport, because team bonding doesn't have to be boring! This option is for teams of co-workers only, and include special Corporate perks, skill sessions, easy access to equipment, and more. Teams registering for this format must have at least 50% of their roster working for the same company (full-time, part-time, and/or contract). Click here to learn more about our Corporate program.
ivisions are based on the experience and skills of a team - not on their competitive behaviour! No matter what skill level you register for, all players are expected to play with a 'fun-first, winning-second' attitude.
Please note that the below divisions may not be offered every season or day. If you have any questions about the different skill levels or where to place yourself, just call us!
This division is for teams who are newer to the sport, or teams that consist of a mix of experienced and inexperienced players. Some players may still be learning the rules of Slo-Pitch, meaning the flow of the game will not always be natural. If the majority of players are experienced and skilled, then the team should move up to a higher level if available.
Here, you can expect:
most batters will not place hits and will concentrate primarily on making contact with the ball
home runs are less frequent, and strike-outs are more commonplace
pitchers will not throw strikes consistently and batters might take more walks
fielding errors and base-running mistakes will happen more frequently, not all players will understand lead-offs, tagging-up, force plays or sacrifice flies
teams more often rotate players throughout the field each inning, as opposed to playing designated positions
This division is for teams with mainly experienced Slo-Pitch players. The flow of the game will be quicker than the Recreational division as there will be fewer stoppages and rule clarifications. Not all players in this division are highly skilled, but players are experienced and knowledgeable in the sport.
Here, you can expect:
some batters on each team can place hits and you'll see more home runs from both teams
pitchers will throw strikes more consistently; however, walks will still occur
fielding and base-running will be more consistent and skilled than in the Recreational Division
teams might rotate some players throughout the field each inning, but most players will play designated positions throughout the entire game

To assist with roster management, all teams are permitted up to three players who are 30-39 years of age at the start of the season.
Although a team may have more U-40 players listed in their online roster, teams are not allowed to exceed the above maximum per game – this includes the use of subs.
Players that are 18-29 years of age are not permitted to play in the Masters League.

All Slo-Pitch Leagues are self-officiated and there are no Coordinators or representatives of the SSC onsite. In these Leagues, the Team Captain plays a larger role at game time, including:
bringing and setting up equipment
reporting the score online
locating the permit online (as needed)
managing sportsmanship at game time
communicating with the Club (as needed)
When you play with CSSC, you get the benefits of our Field Maintenance Program: mowed grass, raked shale, and marked lines ensures the safety and enjoyment of our playing fields.
Citywide
Games are played at a variety of shale diamonds throughout the season.
Athletic Parks
Games are played at Athletic Parks throughout Calgary, which are fenced, often lighted, and maintained daily.
Regional
Play closer to home, or your favourite Sponsor Bar! Games are played at diamonds specific to the area of the city that you register for (for example, "South").

When registering, Team Captains will be required to select a rental or purchase option for equipment if they do not already have access to all equipment needs. If you decline equipment, this means you already have access to:
Bases x 3 (Rubber or Padded)
Safety Base x 1 (Rubber or Padded)
Strike Mat (Rubber or Wood)
Home Base
If renting, you can hang onto the equipment for the entire year (i.e. if you play Spring and Summer, there is no need to return and re-rent in between seasons... simply pick it up at the start of the Spring season and return it at the end of the Summer season).
If you register by yourself or with a few friends, you are not required to select any equipment purchase or rental options at the time of registration. Once the team is formed, our equipment manager will reach out to see what the team would like to do regarding equipment if someone does not already have equipment on hand, and coordinate pick-up fees and details.
The registration fee for all teams includes three Slo-Pitch Balls, regardless of whether or not you purchase or rent equipment. We use Worth Grey Dot balls and team Slo-Pitch balls may be picked up from the office during our Equipment Pickup and Drop-off Events or at a time that's convenient for you during our office hours.
Base Sets and Strike Mats are sold separately. Teams may purchase one or both, as required.
