Badminton? More like 'Good'minton.
CSSC Badminton Leagues are great for improving agility, hand-eye coordination and stamina, and are easily accessible to players of various ages and skill levels. Not to mention, it's a lot of fun! You'll feel at home even if you don't know the difference between a shuttlecock and a shuttlecraft, or if you're looking for more of a challenge while maintaining the fun-first atmosphere that the CSSC is known for in Calgary.
After your game, meet up with your teammates and other players to enjoy exclusive food and drink specials at one of the CSSC's many Sponsor Bars around Calgary!
Winter, Spring, Fall: 9-weeks
Summer: 8-weeks
All teams play once a week on the day they select when registering.
Evening Leagues: 6pm to 10:30pm
While our leagues are self-officiated, there is an Event Coordinator onsite to help manage equipment, time and scores. Matches are best-of-three (rally-point scoring) and bookings are typically 75 to 90-minutes long.
These leagues are 'double opponent,' meaning you get double the fun: you get to play two matches each night against two different opponents.
Doubles - Co-ed
Games are played 2 on 2 with at least one female player on the court.
Doubles - Open
Games are played 2 on 2 with no specific gender requirements.
Divisions are based on the experience and skills of a team - not on their competitive behaviour! No matter what skill level you register for, all players are expected to play with a 'fun-first, winning-second' attitude.
Please note that the below divisions may not be offered every season or day. If you have any questions about the different skill levels or where to place yourself, just call us!
This division is for teams who are newer to the sport, or teams that consist of a mix of experienced and inexperienced players. Some players may still be learning the rules of Badminton, meaning the flow of the game will not always be natural. If both of the main players are experienced and skilled, then the team should move up to a higher level if available.
This division is for teams with mainly experienced Badminton players. The flow of the game will be quicker than the Recreational division as there will be fewer stoppages and rule clarifications. Players can serve and return with accuracy, and the team is looking for more of a challenge than the Recreational level. Not all players in this division are highly skilled, but players are experienced and knowledgeable in the sport.
When registering a full team, there is no limit to the maximum number of players you can have on the roster. Minimum female player requirements are inclusive of anyone who identifies as female. |
