Positions Available for Winter 2010: Indoor Volleyball and Badminton
General Overview:
Event Coordinator Responsibilities:
- Attend pre-season EC meeting (1.5 hours). Date and location are noted below under “Meetings”.
- Arrive at the game 15 minutes early - set-up courts/fields, organize the players.
- Bring the schedule, score sheet, rules, and equipment to the games each week.
- Update players at the gym or field with pre-game announcements about CSSC events and/or league information.
- Record scores for the teams at the gym and report them online to the CSSC the following day.
- Play in the SSC leagues with honour and great sportsmanship.
Hours:
ECs coordinate the location that they play at each week at the time that they are scheduled to play only. This involves arriving at the facility 15 minutes early to coordinate the set-up of fields/courts, do pre-game announcements for the players and remain at the location until games are complete and scores have been reported/equipment collected.
Rate of pay:
ECs are not paid by the hour. See the benefits below.

Sport Specific Overview:
Indoor Volleyball: The IVB ECs have the following responsibilities:
- Bring the equipment to the gym (balls/scorecards).
- Guide players through proper net set-up (with provided instructions).
- Update players with pre-game announcements (emailed to you on game day).
- Ensure that the matches run on time and that players are out of the facility by the permit end time.
- Ensure that the nets are stored correctly.
- Report match scores online the following day to the CSSC.
ECs will do player updates for the 4-6 teams at their gym (including their own).
Badminton: The Badminton ECs have the following responsibilities:
- Bring the equipment to the gym (shuttles/racquets).
- Guide players in proper net set-up (with provided instructions).
- Update players with pre-game announcements (emailed to you on game day).
- Ensure that the matches run on time and that players are out of the facility by the permit end time.
- Ensure that the nets are stored correctly.
- Report match scores online the following day to the CSSC.
ECs will do player updates for the 4-12 teams at their gym (including their own).
Flag Football & Ultimate: The ECs help coordinate the league night that they are playing in by:
- Bringing the EC gear (balls, flags, discs, field markers, etc) each week.
- Setting up the fields (2 fields side by side).
- Updating players with pre-game announcements.
- Reporting game scores online to the CSSC the following day.
Each EC is responsible for 2-4 teams at their location (including their own).
ECs are only required to be the “EC” for the field/gym at which they are playing, on the day/night that they are playing, at the time that they are playing only.
Start dates:
Winter Season starts January 17th, 2010: Indoor Volleyball, Badminton
Spring Season starts mid-April: Flag Football, Ultimate, Indoor Volleyball, Badminton
Summer Season starts mid-July: Flag Football, Ultimate, Indoor Volleyball
Fall Season starts mid-September: Flag Football, Ultimate, Indoor Volleyball, Badminton
Completion date:
When the league that the EC is playing in ends (usually 8-10 weeks per season).
Meeting:
There will be a mandatory EC meeting that is TBA for new Indoor Volleyball, Badminton, Ultimate and Flag Football ECs where EC responsibilities will be reviewed and equipment that is needed for the season will be distributed. Meeting details will be sent to ECs via email.
