2010 CSSC GRASS VOLLEYBALL INFORMATION

Cancellation Policy |
In order to receive a full refund, cancellations must be
submitted 2 business days prior to the registration deadline applicable to
that season. After this time, no player or team will be eligible for a full
or partial refund or credit. |
General Description |
Do you dislike
getting sand everywhere, but still want to play Volleyball outside? Then
Grass Volleyball is the sport for you. This fun, social sport is played
at beautiful
Stanley
Park. The CSSC
offers a Recreational an Intermediate division on Wednesday nights. Enjoy all
the benefits of Hard Court Volleyball with the addition of music and fun in
the sun. There is an Events Coordinator on-site to facilitate games and
maintain the courts, however, players are expected to call their fouls and
manage the game. It’s a 6 on 6 game, with a minimum
of 2 females on the court at all times. All teams play two matches per night.
After your game, meet-up with your teammates and other CSSC players while
enjoying exclusive specials at one of our many Sponsor Bars around
Calgary.

Who Can Play? |
Adults aged 18 and
older can join the Grass Volleyball leagues. All Volleyball divisions in the
CSSC are co-ed and self-officiated. The level offered is Intermediate, which
is for players of varying skill levels, but teams should always attempt three
hits on each play. We welcome full teams, small groups (5 or more players but
not a full team), friends (2-4 players) and individual registrations. Small
groups, friends and individual registrations are combined with other similar
registrants to form a team that remains together for the duration of the

Recreational |
For
new players or teams with new players. Little bumping and setting. Teams will
try for 3 hits. No hard hitting allowed. Team Goal: Get it over the net - it
doesn't matter how! |
Intermediate |
For
players and teams with a mixed skill level. Three hits is the goal, with
decent bumping and setting. Expect to see some hitting and blocking, although
hard hitting is not encouraged and you will typically not see strong or
organized attacks.
Team
Goal: try to have 3 hits on every play. |

HOW DO I REGISTER?
|
All
players should register and pay online using our secure registration process.
This will increase your chances of getting into the league of your choice. If
you do not have a credit card, you may phone the office at 244-PLAY and make
arrangements to register and pay in person during regular business hours. |
Full
Teams: The Team Captain will register and pay for the entire team. A minimum of 4
players must be registered with complete contact info for the Captain and
Co-captain. The maximum players on the form is 11,
but you may carry more than this on your team. |
Small
Groups: For 5 or more people who cannot make a full team, but want to play together.
Complete contact info will be required for the Group Leader and Co-leader.
Singles will be added to your roster by the CSSC. |
Individuals/Friends: For 1-4 players
who want to register together and play on the same team. Complete contact
info is required for Player #1. You will be placed onto a team with other
singles/small groups. |

Facility Information
|
If any player causes the SSC to receive a complaint regarding a
field rented by the SSC will face a $100 fine and may be ejected from the
league.

Format/Rosters

We recommend teams of 6-9.
All players that participate in the league must sign the
CSSC waiver.
Captains who register and pay for a full team retain

Singles and Small Group registrants are combined to form
teams for the full season. Singles teams will receive their roster via email
48 hours prior to their first game.

Each team plays two opponents in a best of 3 match each night.
Note: The CSSC may have to schedule more than two matches in an
evening if games have been cancelled due to weather or unforeseen
circumstances and make-up games are being played.

Calling the Shots
|
The Grass volleyball
coordinator's job is to set up the nets and help with rosters and scores. The
Coordinator is not responsible for officiating the
games. All players in CSSC volleyball leagues are responsible for keeping
score, calling their own fouls and managing the game.
